Professional Products help Travel Channel’s Maryland and New York offices make the move to HD
July 10, 2008

Gaithersburg, Maryland, July 10, 2008 Since May of 2007 when Cox Communication announced the acquisition of the Travel Channel from Discovery Communications, there have been two location changes for the Travel Channel.  These moves included their corporate headquarters moving to Chevy Chase, Maryland, and their New York offices moving to a new location with significant renovation needed in the new space.  The Travel Channel needed a company that could design, engineer, supply equipment and integrate their technical infrastructure to provide audiovisual, presentation, and video teleconferencing capabilities to conference rooms, training rooms and reception areas.  Therefore, they called on the skill and expertise of Professional Products, Inc. (PPI).  The Chevy Chase and New York offices were complete in April 2008 and July 2008 respectively.

The Chevy Chase office has a large divisible presentation/training room that can hold 104 seats when open and half that amount on either side when closed.  There are two HD projectors and two electrical projection screens on each side of the divisible room for displaying video and graphics up to 1920x1080 resolution.  This office also has two conference rooms each containing a wall mounted 65” HD LCD and one room is additionally outfitted with high quality audio conferencing and video teleconferencing (VTC).  The display sources for the training room and the conference rooms include (CATV), DVD, PC, and other video input.  The Chevy Chase office reception area contains a 65” HD LCD that is interfaced with the CATV system to display the Travel Channel.

The New York office has a large conference room with the same HD projector as the Chevy Chase location and is setup to project both video and PC images onto a 110” electric diagonal screen that is recessed into the ceiling.  The audio conferencing and the video teleconferencing (VCT) are the same in both offices so that functionality is consistent.  The New York office reception area and break room contains a 32” HD LCD that receives HD cable TV to display the Travel Channel for incoming visitors and for use during downtime.

Bruce Kaufmann, President and CEO of Professional Products, Inc. said, “We were thrilled for the opportunity to work with the Travel Channel.  They are a premier program provider and a key part of Cox Communications.”
