Job Description:
The Field Service Engineer troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains audio, video, and computer equipment throughout the Washington DC area and other locations around the country on occasion. He or she works on broadcast systems, audiovisual presentation systems, and computer networks. This engineer reports to the Service Manager.
Some of the responsibilities of this position include:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide variety of digital/analog audio and video equipment, including, but not limited to: broadcast cameras, VCRs, monitors, distribution devices, and routing/switching/processing equipment.
- Troubleshoot a wide variety of broadcast television studio and editing systems to identify problems and restore operability.
- Troubleshoot a wide variety of computers—to include Windows and Apple operating systems—and computer networks.
- Install, troubleshoot, and upgrade audio and video teleconferencing systems.
- Troubleshoot, upgrade, and load code for RS-232 and 422 control platforms.
- Assist in the installation and testing of new systems as needed.
- Perform general administrative, technical, and custodial duties associated with the duties outlined above.
- Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have the following professional experience and personal attributes:
- Must understand the fundamentals of video, audio, and digital signals and be able to troubleshoot systems based on this knowledge.
- Must have experience in providing excellent customer service
- Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook (experience with MS Access and MS Navision are also highly desirable, although not essential).
- Must have two to four years experience in field service or electronic equipment repair and maintenance.
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional organizational skills and must be able to multitask.
- A relevant degree is preferred, but experience and applicable certifications may hold more weight.
- Occasional overtime is required.
- Some heavy lifting is required.
